Arbor Snowboards was founded in 1995 and The Arbor Collective has been a growing co-operative of designers, artists and friends since the beginning, whose common goal is to make boards and clothing from the best possible materials. Since day one, Arbor has seen good times without too many flaws. Arbor has managed to combine progressive design, old-school craftsmanship and a serious commitment to the environment. Thanks to this combination, Arbor succeeds in bringing out cool clothing, skateboards and snowboards.
Arbor launched their brand in '95 with snowboards. They were determined to build products using sustainable materials, like wood and bamboo. The goal was to emphasise the riding experience, improved performance and art that enhance the Arbor story. Arbor's mission will always be to produce the highest quality handmade snowboards possible and hopefully inspire people to protect the planet.
In '98 Arbor started the skateboard division. For years, they rebuilt old snowboards into skateboards to conquer the hills when there was little snow or surf. They rode the boards at odd hours and scared a lot of people with them. This has resulted in a wide range of shapes for all kinds of skate disciplines. As you'd expect from Arbor, the materials, art and design come together in the same tradition as the snowboards. Arbor skateboards - handmade, quality woodcraft.
Since day one, The Arbor Collective has been donating to groups that protect and restore forests. This programme is called "Returning Roots". Arbor donates primarily to the preservation of the Koa forests in Hawaii, giving them a chance to give back to the planet, the people and the place that gave us surfing, snowboarding and skateboarding. The native Hawaiians invented surfing about 1000 years ago, on boards made from Koa wood. The sports we love today are tied to this heritage. The Hawaiian Legacy Reforestation Initiative is the primary Returning Roots partner. This group not only plants trees, but they rebuild entire forests from scratch. As of today, they have planted more than 300,000 Koa trees on 800 acres of former forest land. The Hawaiian Legacy Reforestation Initiative helps Arbor protect forests while finding an important balance in the use of sustainable materials.

GRIP TECH + PARABOLIC PROFILING
The system shaping philosophy underlies the design of every snowboard in our line. It allows Arbor to create sophisticated true-rocker and true-camber designs. As a result, they retain all the inherent advantages of these proven platforms by avoiding hybridisation. Two different technologies make this possible:
Grip Tech provides additional contact points at the heel and toe, dramatically improving edge control on snow and ice. The design provides a more ergonomic and direct connection to the snow, for significantly improved handling and reaction time. The additional contact points allow Arbor to offer Rocker designs that offer great edge control, and Camber designs that offer better edge control.
We use a unique shaping technique that replaces the single radius arc of traditional camber or rocker with a more advanced parabolic profile. The design blends five separate radii together to create a parabolic arc that gradually reduces the amount of rocker or camber towards the nose and tail. In our System Rocker shapes, the design lowers the leading edge to improve edge control. On Arbors System Camber shapes, the design makes the leading edge less aggressive for smoother performance. The combined five radius design also allows us to better match each shape in our line to your level, target terrain, and riding style.
